The aim of the training is to provide the necessary knowledge and skills to work safely and effectively as a Control Room Operator, controlling emergencies and critical situations.
The program consists of technical training, hands-on skills training and the required examinations to meet OPITO standards. 0
There are no specific pre-requisites for this course.
If you are a Process Operator or Process Engineering Technician about to be appointed to the position of Control Room Operator, or if you are already working as a CRO and would like to develop your knowledge, this training course is for you.
By the end of the OPITO Control Room Operator Training course participants will be able to:
- Evaluate operational conditions from the perspective of Control Room Operator (CRO) and respond correctly and appropriately to either prevent or minimise the effects of an incident in a simulated environment.
All Control Room Operator training activities at this level will be simulated in a controlled environment in accordance with approved procedures, test specifications and all other relevant international/ approved standards. All tasks and subsequent activities will be performed under the supervision of a suitably qualified and experienced trainer.
At the end of the training course participants will complete a written and practical test to ensure they have the required knowledge and skills specified in the learning outcomes of the following modules:
- Module 1: Maintaining a state of readiness
- Module 2: Control of critical situations
- Module 3: Coordination of the response to emergencies
